Drawing Together: Spring 2013

Last weekend, Teaching Artist Ruth Wetzel led an exciting (and very well attended!) Drawing Together workshop based on the exhibition, Selections from the Red Hook Archives.

Using the photographs of Teri Slotkin and Carol Dragon as examples, she asked participants to think about the relationships between Red Hook residents and the spaces we all share.

They then looked at a series of Red Hook maps and discussed the different ways people move around our neighborhood.

Ruth invited everyone to think of their feet as a connection between these themes. Over 25 DT participants drew shoes--each other's and their own--on individual pieces of paper, which they arranged and connected into city streets.

They added playgrounds, traffic lights, cars, dogs, cats, and even airplanes! Here are some shots of the completed DT Red Hook map:

Thanks to all of you for coming out last week and for making this project a success! Drawing Together programs take place on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of every month. To register yourself and your child, please send your name and your child's name and age to sallie@kentlergallery.org. Hope to see you soon!
