Summer Drawing Program: Final Exhibition 7/31/13

Yesterday, we wrapped up our three-week "Make Your Mark" Summer drawing program with an exhibition of student work at Kentler! Young artists from the Red Hook Community Justice Center and their families enjoyed a nice reception while checking out one another's final projects. Artworks included everything from sculpture, to embroidery, to collage.

The theme of the course, "Drawing Inside Out" was based on the title of our most recent exhibition, which we left on view especially for the occasion. Young artists were inspired by works in this show to design their own "inside out" creations. Each artist was given his or her own display table, where they showcased, answered questions, and demonstrated techniques from their work.

Thanks to our Teaching Artist, Meghan Keane, CJC helpers Sadiq and Corvenia, and everyone who came out to support these fabulous young artists! Our first K.I.D.S. Summer program was a huge success and we can't wait to work with these kids again in the future. Congratulations to Isis, Kayla T., Kayla C., Mia, and Shayne for all of your hard work!

K.I.D.S. Art Education will be on vacation for the month of August. Look for updates on our fall programming in mid-September. LIKE us on Facebook for more information. Have a great summer!
