We had such a fantastic time working with Extreme Kids & Crew this spring!
This organization, which empowers and supports disabled children and their families, has been a perfect partner for K.I.D.S. Art Education with its exploratory, hands-on approach to learning. Together, we hosted a weekly sensory art workshop for young people with physical and intellectual limitations. What an inspired, creative, and active bunch-- they really expressed themselves and created some amazing artwork!
This past Saturday was our last class together. Thanks to a (very abundant) donation by Toys for Tots, the group had about 1,000 plastic cups to use as materials. Our Teaching Artist Meghan Keane invited participants to build a sensory gym-- complete with towers, trampolines, and other imaginative equipment-- from cups, sharpies, and colorful tape.
Here is the end result of that challenge!
Thanks again to Extreme Kids & Crew and Red Hook Executive Director Caitlin Cassaro for such a fun and rewarding partnership. We hope the future holds more collaborations and continued success for your vital program!
