Extreme Kids & Crew After-School: Fall 2016

This Fall, we are so excited to grow our partnership with Extreme Kids & Crew into a full-fledged After-School program, led by teaching artist Victoria Calabro. EK&C is a local nonprofit organization serving disabled children and their families through play-based programs, resources, social opportunities and support. After offering weekend workshops at their Red Hook space for several years, we finally established a weekly program, and it has been incredibly rewarding for all of us!

The nine kids in our After-School program have spent the last 8 weeks exploring materials in every way imaginable: constructing cardboard, dip-dying fabrics, splattering ink, and printing with foam sheets:

They've also touched on more traditional techniques and materials, including watercolor, observational drawing, and mural painting:

We're extremely proud of this collaboration and can't wait to continue working with Extreme Kids & Crew in 2017! Big thanks to Caitlin, Diana and Jolene from the EKC crew and to Victoria Calabro for leading this fantastic program. Stay tuned for future updates and new developments in the Spring!
