Our final After-School session of 2014! I visited Susan Hamburger's class of middle school girls yesterday to see their final projects from the past 10 weeks. The program centered around themes of identity and empowerment, with a focus on self-portraiture. Each student created her own hand-made book and kept a sketchbook to map their ideas throughout the course.
We typically hold our own exhibitions for students on their final day, but because RHI is hosting a holiday party this Friday, the girls decided to spend Wednesday preparing their artwork to be shown at that event. With Susan's help, the students worked to complete final projects and mount their work on colorful paper for display.
This fun group did amazing work and we look forward to more great programming in 2015! Special thanks to the New York State Council on the Arts and the Dept. of Cultural Affairs for their support of K.I.D.S. Art Education After-School Program.
Keep an eye out for new workshops starting in early February. Happy holidays to everyone!
