Drawing Together: Spring 2016

Happy belated New Year and welcome back to the K.I.D.S. Art Education blog!

We're excited to share what we've been up to this month. Our current exhibitions, "WORDROACH" by K. Saito and "In Bold Colors" by Orlando Richards have given lots of inspiration to families in our weekly Drawing Together workshops. There's plenty of fun things to look at -- Saito's show includes an installation with a samurai sword, 3D letters that morph into cockroaches, and large-scale drawings crammed with tiny hand-written letters. Richards creates a colorful world of huge compositions filled with crazy patterns, figures, textures and stories.

So far this spring, families have created 3D insect collages, pattern-filled murals, and fantasy-land storyboards populated by a variety of interesting characters. Take a look!

Thanks to our Teaching Artists Victoria and Brana and to our amazing DT families for making the first month of K.I.D.S. 2016 a success! We can't wait for what's ahead!
